[ translate ]

This Original NASA type 1 photo measures 8" x 10" in size and features the Apollo 17 with the US flag.

As defined by PSA/DNA, a Type 1 photo is a 1st generation photograph, developed from the original negative, during the period (within approximately two years of when the picture was taken). Type 1 photos have become a highly desirable segment of sports memorabilia.

Apollo 17 was the final mission of NASA's Apollo program and the last manned mission to the Moon to date. Launched on December 7, 1972, the mission's crew consisted of Commander Eugene Cernan, Command Module Pilot Ronald Evans, and Lunar Module Pilot Harrison Schmitt. Apollo 17 was unique in several ways, including being the only Apollo mission to include a scientist-astronaut (Schmitt) and the longest lunar surface stay, totaling about 75 hours. The mission successfully explored the Taurus-Littrow region of the Moon, conducting scientific experiments, collecting rock samples, and deploying scientific instruments like the Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV). Cernan and Schmitt conducted three moonwalks, while Evans remained in lunar orbit aboard the command module. Apollo 17 concluded on December 19, 1972, marking the end of an era in human space exploration and leaving a legacy of scientific discovery and accomplishment.

This Type 1 photo has been authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA for authenticity purposes.
