NEPAL – Stele of Padmapani – 12th - 14th Century. Black stone stele representing Padmapani standing in tribhanga, the boddhisattva of compassion represented here in the form of the lotus carrier whose stem he holds with his left hand and the flower blooms above his shoulder. Dressed in a dhoti, adorned with jewellery, his face is serene, his hair styled in bun, his right hand in varadamudra, the left holding the stem. Date: Mid-13th century – Circa 1250Measurements.
