NICE SILVER LIDDED TANKARD WITH CUPIDS AS AN ALLEGORY OF THE TIMES OF DAY.

Date: 1673-1677.
Technique: Silver with inner- and partial gilding.
Description: Cylindrical sides on a domed base ring with a flared rim. On this, four cupids with
different attributes such as a cockerel, an upright sun or an owl as allegories of the
times of day or the ages in front of a landscape. The hinged lid with a spherical knob and
powerful fruit clusters.
Weight: Ca. 540g.
Measurement: Height 17cm.
Mark: Inspection mark Augsburg on side and lid 1673-77 (Seling no.750), maker's mark Johann Reinhard I Raiser (1662-1698, ibid. no.1642), tremolier engraving.
