Järva Idrottsförening, or Järva IF, is a sports club based in Stockholm, Sweden. The club was founded in 1917 and has since been an important player in Swedish sport, especially in athletics and bandy.

In athletics, Järva IF has had several prominent athletes and has contributed to the success of Swedish sport over the years. Nils Engdahl, one of the club's most famous members, represented the club during its successful career in the 1920s and contributed to its reputation as a leading athletics club.

Nils Engdahl was a prominent Swedish runner during the 1920s, known for his achievements in the short distances. He became the first Swede to run the 200 meters in under 22 seconds and the 400 meters in under 49 seconds. Engdahl took bronze in the 400 metres at the 1920 Olympics and was also part of the Swedish relay team that took silver in the 4x400 metres at the 1924 Olympics.

He had an impressive track record in SM contexts with a total of 16 individual titles in the 100 metres, 200 metres and 400 metres distances between the years 1918 and 1927. Engdahl also set several Swedish records during his career, including in the 200 metres and 400 metres.

In addition to his successful athletics career, Engdahl was also active in bandy for Järva IS as a forward and halfback until 1937.

Nils Engdahl was the older brother of national football team player and sports journalist Wille Engdahl. He was married to swimming jumper Signe Johansson Engdahl, who was herself a prominent athlete and was, at her death in 2010, regarded as the world's oldest living Olympian at the age of 104. Engdahl was born in Västerhaninge and lived his last years in Bromma.Show more
