[ translate ]

NINA HAMNETT
1890-1956
RECLINING MAN

signed with initials
oil on canvas
65 by 81.5cm.; 25½ by 32in.
Executed circa 1918.

Condition Report:
The canvas is lined. A thick layer of varnish has been applied to the work. The canvas undulates, most evident in the upper right quadrant. There is a horizontal scratch in the upper left quadrant. There are areas of cracking throughout the painting, which have resulted in tiny dots of loss in places, most notable towards the right edge. There is some frame abrasion along the extreme edges, which has resulted in small instances of loss along the upper edge towards the left corner, and along the lower edge towards the left corner. There is some surface dirt and accretions and studio detritus to the surface of the work. This excepting, the work appears to be in good overall condition.

The varnish makes the work difficult to read under Ultraviolet light. Inspection under Ultraviolet light revelas retouching along the extreme edges of the work.

The work is presented unframed.
