NIZAMI (D.1209 AD), KHAMSA, COPIED BY QUTB IBN MUHAMMAD, PERSIA, TIMURID, DATED 901-5 AH/1495-99 AD

Persian manuscript on polished cream paper, 355 leaves, 21 lines to the page, written in nasta’liq in black ink, text divided into four columns, ruled in black and gold, headings in gold nasta’liq, 3 gold and polychrome illuminated bifolia, 3 polychrome and gold headings (‘unwan), in a 19th century red and gilt European binding

23.3 by 16cm.

Condition Report:
The margins are clean, the pages are numbered with Persian numerals on the upper external corner, various stains and traces of dump, some losses and flaking to the illuminations, some headings missing, possibly the manuscript was not finished, some leaves at the end loose, as viewed.
