NORTHERN ITALIAN SCHOOL, 17TH CENTURY
CHILD MUSICIAN PLAYING A VIOLIN, WITH FLOWERS IN A GLASS VASE

oil on canvas
28½ by 23½ in.; 72.4 by 59.7 cm.

Condition Report:
The canvas is lined and stable on its stretcher. A colorful image reads well with a fine pattern of regular craquelure throughout. No losses are visible to the naked eye. Under UV inspection, the varnish appears thick. Retouching is visible in small areas of shadow in the hand and arm, below the violin and at the edge of the vase, and in small scattered strokes in the background, but is largely absent from the face and clothing. The painting can hang in its current state. Offered in a decoratively carved giltwood frame.

In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report.
