A Roman marble head of Minerva, fine polished face and neck, right side with faint detail of hairdo with a looped lock of hair in front of ear, she wears a helmet with visor and neck protector, large square hole on top possibly for crest, back with square support. Roman Imperial Period, 1st-3rd century AD. H. 20 cm.

Provenance: J. A. Jerichau (1816–1883). Sold at the Jerichau estate sale in 1884, lot 72–73 “Damaged heads (female with helmet and male with Phrygian cap).” Stated in bill. Professor C. Wilkens (1844–1929). Danish private collection, by inheritance.
