NSDAP 15 Year Long Service Award

[ translate ]

German NSDAP Long Service Award for 15 Years of Faithful Service

This decoration takes the form of a cross with blue enamel arms radiating outward in a sunburst pattern, centered on one face by a Party eagle grasping a wreathed swastika, and on the other by the inscription "Treue fuer Fuehrer und Volk" ("Loyalty to Fuehrer and People") in raised Gothic lettering within a blue enamel field. The suspension ring at the top allowed the cross to be worn from its ribbon.

Long service awards of this kind were instituted to recognize members of the NSDAP and its affiliated organizations for extended years of Party service, with graduated levels marking 10, 15, and 25 years of membership. The 15-year grade, seen here, sits in silver-toned metal between the bronze 10-year award and the gold 25-year award, reflecting the Party's internal hierarchy of long-term commitment and loyalty.

These NSDAP Long Service Awards were established in the 1930s to honour Party members for sustained years of political activity dating back, in many cases, to before the 1933 seizure of power. The tiered system in bronze, silver, and gold for 10, 15, and 25 years respectively served to distinguish early and long-standing adherents from later joiners, reinforcing status within the Party's internal ranking of loyalty and seniority. The inscription "Treue fuer Fuehrer und Volk" reflects the personalised loyalty oath structure central to NSDAP ideology, binding members' service explicitly to Adolf Hitler as Fuehrer alongside the broader concept of the Volk.
