[ translate ]

NWA 2932 Meteorite End Cut Mesosiderite Northwest Africa Found: 2005 A relatively understudied variety of meteorite, the Mesosiderites are a bit of an enigma. Wildly visually attractive, this end cut specimen offers a cut and polished face displaying multiple mineral clasts. With brecciated composition, such material is a fascinating mix of metal and stone. Weighing 766 grams, the offering is sizable, and its rugged exterior is all-meteorite with a hearty texture and a botryoidal nature. The "rind" has visible stabilization spots and a fracture line that may have once been a partial saw mark. The combination of a beautiful display face, considerable size, and duality of interior and exterior result in a superb example of NWA 2932. Found in 2005, its total known weight is much greater than listed in the Meteoritical Bulletin. This is simply a captivating Stony-Iron and a rock quite different from most others. Measurements: 3.87 x 3.60 x 2.12 inches (9.83 x 9.15 x 5.38 cm), weighs 766.1 grams HID09710052018 © 2022 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
