Northwest Africa 6963 (6963 NWA) 28°00. 148' N, 11°07. 895' WMorocco. Found: 2011Classification: Martian meteorite (Shergottite) History: In September 2011, a Moroccan meteorite hunter found the first NWA 6963 pieces and sold them to AHabibi without saying the exact origin. The hunter continued collecting pieces in the same area for about 6 months. In mid May 2012, the location of NWA 6963, near the river Oued Touflit, became widely known and hundreds of meteorite hunters came to the area in search of more pieces. The total mass can be up to 8 kg. NWA 6963 has been classified as Martian shergottite, after all the studies and timely analysis. It shows minimal signs of weathering, so it looks fresh and without much ground metamorphism, which increases its scientific value because of the low level of contamination that it has suffered while in contact with other materials of our planet. Although normally meteorites from Mars have a very small size, the specimen that we offer is a large size sample of this rare meteorite from our sister planet. There are areas with a spectacular dark fusion crust, and others in which we can observe inside the typical green tones of the shergottites. Martian meteorites are the scarcest ones that exist, because of what they represent genuine wonders of the Universe in our hands. A piece worth of a museum. We are members of IMCA (International Meteorites Collectors Association) number # 7412. Buy with warranties. Adrian Contreras "CRATER Meteorites".
