NWA Ordinary Chondrite Meteorite Unclassified Ordinary Chondrite Northwest Africa This unclassified meteorite still carries the moniker as it does hail from Northwest Africa and was even personally acquired there by the owner, who bought it in Morocco in 2023. Presented on one simple and elegant black metal armature, this specimen weighs a hefty 5.1 kilograms (11 pounds) and has much to like about it. A highly textural display face is replete with flow lines and texture of significance. The partly crusted specimen is dynamic and visually compelling with multiple faces, including granular sections where the rocky core of the meteorite is fully exposed. A consummate display piece, this offering is almost 8 inches (20 cm) out of the base and has seemingly captured some of the "action" when the rock came from Outer Space to the Earth. This is one truly big and bold meteorite which, although an Ordinary Chondrite, is the furthest thing from it. While this has not been formally classified, it is an obvious collection specimen representative of the NWA type. The bonus duality is due to the coloration, as the rock is a fine mix of brown and pinkish hues. Measurements: 7.87 x 6.50 x 5.91 inches (20.00 x 16.50 x 15.00 cm), weighs 5,100 grams HID09710052018 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
