This auction features a beautiful inverted bas-relief in an elegant black wooden frame, made after the meter-high facade relief that has adorned the entrance to the world-famous Folies Bergère revue theater in Paris since 1925. This iconic work of art in the Art Deco style was designed by the famous French architect and interior designer Maurice Picaud, also known as Pico (1900-1977) .

This artwork, entitled "Serpentine Dancer" shows the famous dancer Lila Nikolska in her naked dance, surrounded by abstract swirls and shapes that perfectly capture the atmosphere of the performances in the revue theater. Originally founded in 1869 as a music hall, the Folies Bergère revue theater experienced its heyday of popularity in the 1890s until World War II. This iconic theater is still in operation and has a rich history.

The artwork offered in this auction is a unique piece from the 'Inverted Collection' of atelier Laurier Design. This piece differs from the original Folies Bergère relief because it is not designed positively, but in negative. This means that the relief has been eroded. Figures 10 and 11 clearly show that the object presented is an inverted interpretation of the original. In addition, this work of art is distinguished by the fact that the dancing woman does not kick to the right as in the original, but to the left.

The artwork is in excellent condition and will be carefully packed with protective bubble wrap in a custom-made wooden box for shipping. The panel is also insured against loss or damage during transport up to a maximum of €5,500.
