Napoleon III Bronze & Marble Figural Candlesticks
Pair of Napoleon III Bronze and Marble Figural Candlesticks
third quarter 19th century, now mounted as lamps, the fluted column-form marble bases supporting a bronze female and male figure, respectively, each draped and holding aloft a candle socket, the lamps mounted with fabric shades over glass shades.
h. 36", dia. 16-1/4"
Dimensions: 16.25 x 36 in
Condition Report: **The male figure's head has been repaired at the neck and the crack filled with a bronze-like filler. There are scattered chips and small losses to the marble base edges. The female figure has a casting imperfection to the proper left shoulder that is not a repair. There are a few other small casting flaws (including minor pitting and indentations) scattered throughout. Bronze elements exhibit some light nicks, accretions and oxidation - all of which are to be expected with age and use; otherwise in overall good condition. Shades are attractive and intact minus a tear to the inside lining on one. Height of figures on marble bases (without lamp parts) is 21-1/2".
