Napoleon III firebuck in the shape of standing griffins - Brass, Bronze, Iron (cast/wrought) - Approx. 1880

Beautiful pair of andirons in the form of standing griffins - winged fable animals. Nicely detailed with the claw legs and the angry head. The griffins stand on 2 curved ornaments adorned with fleur de lis ornaments. Quite heavy approx. 5 kilograms each. Condition: the right one misses the bracket and 1 wing at the back. Fortunately, this is not visible from the front. It is also slightly more curved on the underside than the left. See photos.
