Two letters signed, the first from 1806 (20 Feb.) given aboard the "Mary Transport Messina Harbour" regarding the levying of "money & allowance for Passage and Contingencies of Recruits" and a balance owed to him for these services. Signed "Hudson Lowe" as Lieutenant-Commander of the Royal Corsican Rangers. The other an 1817 (5 June) letter signed from St. Helena to Rear Admiral Sir Pulteney Malcolm having not received the "supply this Government expected to be received by the David Transport on occasion of her last arrival from the Cape of Good Hope and having reason to believe ... the fault may be ascribed in a great degree to the master of the Ship". Signed "H Lowe" as Lieutenant General.

Sir Hudson Lowe (1769-1844) best known for his time in office as Governor of St. Helena and Napoleon's gaoler.
