Currier Although the copper production from the mines of Upper Peninsula Michigan can be reckoned in hundreds of thousands, if not millions of tons, well-defined crystals of the red metal make up a very small percentage of that production. Sharp crystals, such as this one were prized highly at the time, and now: even more so. As is atypical for many, if not most, Copper specimens from that era, there is locality data recorded on the Vaux label as being from the Central Mine in Keweenaw County, Michigan. It is easy to see how this charming specimen captured George Vaux's attention at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, when he purchased it from S. Brady. Overall Measurements: 1.2 x 1.2 x 0.6 inches (3.0 x 3.0 x 1.5 cm) Offered at no reserve Provenance: Ex. Bryn Mawr College, Ex. George Vaux (purchased from S.
