Native Copper & Hemimorphite Bisbee, Warren District, Mule...

[ translate ]

Native Copper & Hemimorphite Bisbee, Warren District, Mule Mts, Cochise Co., Arizona, USA "An intergrown mass of fern like somewhat oxidized copper crystals with tan prismatic hemimorphite crystals growing in and out of the copper ferns. I got this specimen from Earl Calvert's collection when I sold the collection for the family many years after he died." - Rock H. Currier Although Bisbee is most noted for fine Azurite and Malachite specimens, there are other notable mineral oddities that emerged from the shadowy depths of the Mule Mountains. Native Copper is much less frequently seen in Bisbee collections and the combination of Native Copper and Hemimorphite is quite rare and therefore a desirable addition to any suite of Bisbee material purporting to be complete. Overall Measurements: 2.8 x 2.4 x 0.8 inches (7.0 x 6.0 x 2.0 cm) Offered at no reserve Provenance: Ex. Earl Calvert Collection [RHC #741, acquired 1967] [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
