Native Gold Coulterville, Coulterville District, Mother Lode Belt, Mariposa Co., California, USA "A very fine TN specimen of crystallized gold. Got this specimen from the George Vaux collection for a trade while I lived back in Westchester Co. NY." - Rock H. Currier This is a small but very fine crystal Gold from the Coulterville area of the Mother Lode. It is still in its original Riker style box, attesting to its unusual history and provenance. This is yet another Currier acquisition from the Vaux Collection, when his eagerness to learn and study minerals captivated the curator at Bryn Mawr. At the time, Rock was living in Westchester, New York, and spending all of his spare time chasing down minerals up and down the eastern seaboard. The original Vaux label is also included with this lot. Overall Measurements: 0.8 x 0.7 x 0.1 inches (2.0 x 1.9 x 0.3 cm) Offered at no reserve Provenance: Ex. Bryn Mawr College, Ex. George Vaux Collections [RHC #2751, acquired 1974] MinID 7MX-APM [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
