Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A set of 2 hand-built pottery dwarf figures, likely females, each with attenuated legs and slender arms. The red and cream figures are identified by their slit-form eyes, nubbin noses, rounded cheeks, and bulging foreheads. Many ancient Mesoamerican cultures believed dwarfs to be granted special powers or abilities by the gods when they were born. Size: 3.75" W x 5.4" H (9.5 cm x 13.7 cm)

Condition Report: Loss to one foot of larger figure and one toe of smaller figure. Both figures with light earthen deposits, abrasions, nicks, and fading to pigment. Great preservation to figural form and facial details.
