Nazca Polychrome Bowl w/ Linear Motif

Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca culture, ca. 200 to 400 CE. A charming hand-built polychrome bowl featuring a rounded base and a wide basin. The exterior is painted with a well-executed linear motif in interchanging hues of red, brown, black and cream. The interior basin is decorated in a deep russet red, with the rim outlined in black. Nazca pottery is known for its characteristically thin-walled and well-formed constructions adorned by abstract designs in strong contrast to the realism exhibited in the works of their contemporary to the north, the Moche. Size: 7.45" W x 2.85" H (18.9 cm x 7.2 cm)
