Near Eastern Iron Age Pottery Oil lamp
Ancient Near East, Holy Land, Iron Age, ca. 1200 BCE. A hand-built pottery oil lamp of a bowl-shaped form with two wide spouts between two large indentations. The pale orange vessel rests atop a narrow base, and the exterior of the indented wall segments are decorated with a red-orange crosshatch-patterned panel. Size: 5.3" L x 2.375" H (13.5 cm x 6 cm).
Provenance: Estate of R. Pearson, Denver, Colorado, USA, acquired July 18, 2011; ex-Arte Primitivo auction, New York, New York, USA; Mr. Pearson collected from the third quarter of the 20th century until he passed away.
