Near Eastern bronze horse bit with cheek pieces

A nice Near Eastern bronze horse bit with cheek pieces, c. 1000 - 600 BC, the bit in the form of a long bronze rod with square profile and curled ends, the cheek pieces in the form of stylized horses, their heads nicely detailed and their bodies stylized with central hole to allow the bit to pass. Well preserved with a lovely deep green patina. W: 8 in (20.4 cm); Cheek pieces both about 2 3/4 in x 2 3/4 in (7.2 x 7.2 cm). Comes with a custom display stand.
