Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE; Near East, Islamic Period, ca. 500 to 1000 CE; Persia, modern day Iran and Turkey, ca. 500 to 1000 CE. A gorgeous ensemble of dozens of ancient glass cane, mosaic, and eye beads presenting a countless assortment of varying hues of orange, red, pink, navy, cobalt, emerald, lime, purple, periwinkle, gray, black, and white. All strung on a modern strand to be wearable, the stunning beads additionally boast a menagerie of forms, including spherical, barrel, tube, ellipsoid, bi-conical, and cylinder, as well as a vast array of decorative motifs, such as zigzag, circular, striated, geometric, and marbled. Note a few cylindrical beads that boast a remarkable trailed decoration! Size (of largest bead): 1.1" L x 1" W (2.8 cm x 2.5 cm); Size (of strand): 18.2" L (46.2 cm)
