Needlework Sampler "Mary Ann M. Hills," Brentwood, New Hampshire, 1832, worked in silk threads on a linen ground, seven alphanumeric rows above the maker's name, vital statistics, date, and town, and pictorial register below with maker's initials "MAMH," all within an elaborate sawtooth border, 16 3/4 x 11 3/4 in. (sight), in an early molded an green-painted frame.

Note: Genealogical research indicates that Mary was born in Nottingham, New Hampshire, near Portsmouth.
