Worked with silk threads on a linen ground, unframed, accompanied by a hand-written note, "Grand-mother gave this sampler when I was a girl" and "Sarah Collins nee Haines sampler-she was G. Moon's sister. A.M.R [Anna Moon Randolph]"; together with two spot worked unframed samplers, one worked in wool.

Sarah Haines was the daughter of Job Haines (1763-1844) and Sara Carr (1762-1798) of Evesham, Burlington County, New Jersey. Sarah married John Collins.
