MDCCCCXIV [1914] is imprinted on bottom of the title page, "First Printed June, 1914, 1500 Copies" is imprinted on the copyright page; illustrated with photographs.

Hard boards, marbled leather with gold tooled coat of arms on the front board, gold tooled rim and page edges [some wear, spine damages: see pictures]; boards are attached, former owner plate with damaged edges inside front cover; marbled endpapers; 212 pages + Index, printed on high quality laid paper; frontispiece protected by tissue guard, + 39 photo plates on glossy paper + double page map [all listed plates and map are present], a few stains, nice pages, tight binding, very good condition.

It discusses the fleet at sea, the Naval Station at Guantanamo Bay where the ships were sent for training maneuvers, the organization of the ship, the daily life of the sailors, the weekly routine on board the ships, gunnery training and target practice for war time, and the organization and distribution of the Navy in 1914. The book contains photographs, illustrations, maps, footnotes, appendices and an index.
