Neil Armstrong Signed Cincinnati Reds 1975 World Series Jersey From Cooperstown Collection, Pre-Certified Zarelli
Signed Apparel
A Cincinnati Reds #75 jersey commemorating the 1975 World Series, signed by Reds superfan Neil Armstrong (1930-2012), as "Neil Armstrong" on the front, over the number "5" recto. N.d., n.p. The Cooperstown Collection G-III & Carl Banks jersey is size Large, and made from a mixed blend of polyester, cotton, and spandex. The asymmetrical jersey has a white top on a bias, with a red bottom; the right sleeve is emblazoned with a 1975 World Series Reds/Red Sox seal, and the left sleeve is unadorned except for two red stripes. The Cincinnati team name and logo also appear. A materials/care tag is found at the neck, and an embroidered Cooperstown Collections swatch is located at lower right recto. Apparently brand-new and unworn with sharp clothing creases, though there is minor grubbiness/discoloration to the left shoulder, and isolated stains to the left sleeve. The jersey measures approximately 15" across (excluding the sleeves) and 22" collar to shirttail. This item has been pre-certified by space expert Steve Zarelli. If you wish to purchase a comprehensive COA, please contact him directly via zarellispaceauthentication.com.
Armstrong had retired from NASA shortly after his famous 1969 Apollo XI mission, returning to Ohio to teach at the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Cincinnati from 1971-1979. A devoted fan of his local baseball franchise, Armstrong was invited by the Cincinnati Reds to throw out the first pitch at a game on July 20, 1976, on the seventh anniversary of the moon-landing. Armstrong is known to have attended at least one game of the 1975 World Series at Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
