Magnificently decorated map of the Netherlands and Belgium, beautiful cartouches, compass roses, finely engraved ships in battle , or just fishing, sea monsters, picturesque cities and woods, and a coat of arms of France in the upper left-hand corner. This map is a feast for the eye, reflecting the optimism of the period in which in became apparent that the Netherlands would remain independent from Spain. An uncommon map, also not included in the second edition published by Claes Jansz. Visscher. Beatifully coloured, with strong imprint and in good condition.
