delectum, pictum et aeri in cisum, per Johannem van Call. Amsterdam, P. Schenk, n.d. (c. 1700), entirely engraved: title, dedication, 4 divisional titles and 19/ 24 (of 25)/ 10/ 17 engr. views, followed by an engraved plate index at the end, 19th-cent. half sheepskin, ribbed spine w. mor. letterpiece, oblong 4to size (19 x 30 cm).
Lacks the mezzotint portrait of Hertog Frederik van Saksen at the beginning and plate 30 (the Doolhof), in the 2nd part. Else a very good copy with ample margins. The work forms a combination of 4 series of very fine views along the Rhine (19 plates), Het Loo and other Dutch royal palaces (24 plates), The Hague (10 plates) and Amsterdam (17 plates). Jan van Call (I) (1656-1706), watercolourist, excellent print artist and miniature painter. The Rijksmuseum dates its copy 1703.
