A very fine set w. the text in first edition (w. ann. in pencil: "Hoort tezamen met het platendeel"), and the atlas a LARGE AND HEAVY PAPER copy, untrimmed. The atlas w. the small bookplate of the Groningen medical professor Jacob Baart de la Faille (1795-1867) on upper pastedown and with ann. in pencil: "Text in 6 vols. vellum. With the extremely rare "Bericht" bound in." The Library of Baart de la Faille was auctioned in 1868. The original letterpress prospectus ("Bericht", 8 p.) for the second edition (1770-1771) bound at the end lists the different variants of the edition available, of which ours is the most expensive one: "Dito [De 300 plaaten apart extra schoon van druk] op groot mediaan zwaar papier."
