Signed: Joryu (for Shounsai Joryu, active 1800-1840) Probably Tokyo, circa 1880 The inhabitants of this legendary island have the convenience of a hole through their torso, allowing them to carry each other around using a pole inserted through the aperture (only in Japan!) .
