New Orleans Market Rosewood Bed in the Rococo Taste

third quarter 19th century, of the group associated with the warerooms of Prudent Mallard, the faceted head and foot posts with molded panels, the headboard with a floral-basket crest over a cabochon-carved center cartouche, the lower panel framed by beaded molding, joined by scalloped rails with applied carving.

Dimensions: 73 x 73 x 94 in
Condition Report: In good "as found" condition. Older refinish with normal rubbing, shrinkage, abrasions and wear. There is a missing piece of floral carving delaminated from the crest. The bobbin-turned molding framing the headboard panel has a 3" long replaced section. The foot and side rails join tightly to the footposts. The bolt at the headboard/rails do not snug up fully. The corner brackets that join the rails and formerly held casters are present but detached. One side rail exhibits sun bleaching.
