New Orleans Silverplate Center Bowl and Underplate
third quarter 19th century, by Casimir Rouyer (1813-1887), the bowl of hemispherical form with molded rim and raised on a pedestal foot, with a circular underplate en suite, both inscribed "Victor".

Condition Report: **A rare set in fair condition, with considerable bumps and dings, but no large dents. Scratches on the inside of the bowl. Significant loss to the silvering revealing the slightly yellower base metal throughout, with about only 10% of the silvering remaining on the bowl exterior and about 40% on the underplate. Marked, on the basal edge of the bowl and the underside of the plate, "C. Rouyer" and "66" (or "99"); the underplate additionally stamped "Metal Onide".
