Niche or display - Baroque style - Gilt, Wood - 19th century

Magnificent baroque work, made in the 19th century. It is a niche or display unit, which originally performed a religious function, housing a carving inside. This piece is richly decorated with a vast number of rolls and rockeries of great movement and volume. It is made up of three semi-circular arches, slightly mixtilinear, supported on two stylized quadrangular pillars with a base, and a double-height capital. The decorative motif that crowns each one of the arches stands out, as well as the profuse reliefs that protrude from the back side. Also noteworthy is the bottom of the piece, which describes a triple interlocking arcade of Mozarabic influence. All this with a high-quality estofado technique that has kept it in great detail and in perfect condition, without losing its intense golden colour and shine. Today, the piece can be used for the function for which it was originally created, but it can also be used in a purely decorative way. It looks spectacular on a piece of furniture or console table, with candles inside or with some other type of figure.
