The Vaysse couple reveals a work that is indeed mysterious, mainly because almost nothing is currently known about this Belgian couple who have remained on the fringes of traditional artistic circuits, despite the quality and relevance of their art. Active in Lasnes, south of Brussels, in the 1960s and 70s, they produced during this period a set of enigmatic, technically refined works, endowed with a sense of detail and rare pattern, with their own identity. Pierre-François is attached to the representation of fantastic figures that stand out against geometric patterned backgrounds, while Nicole is more inclined towards biomorphic abstraction, working on sinuous abstract friezes often punctuated by paisley patterns, revealing an undeniable Iranian influence. This set of works comes from the artists' studio fund in Lasnes, a town that the couple abandoned at the same time as all of their works in the 1980s, when they left for the south of France. When buying the couple's home, the new owners discovered the entire artist's studio there. Whose acquisition of the set has never been exhibited, yet each work presented in a period brushed aluminum frame and a master key in high quality Japanese silk. It is interesting to see the piece under the microscope so you can admire the finesse and the successive layers of ink to give an extraordinary appearance to the work. A piece worthy of an Art Brut museum.
