No Reserve Price - Hoop earrings Silver, Victorian pique earrings inland with gold and silver

Exquisite large Victorian pique earrings, made circa 1880. When Prince Albert died in 1861 Queen Victoria plunged in to mourning taking most of the country with her. It became the fashion to wear all things black, tortoiseshell were carved in to many forms. At first they were plain then decoration crept in. Tortoiseshell was inlaid with gold and silver intricate designs such as this brooch. Today they are very collectable as reproductions cannot be made.

Weight 4. 60 grams
Length approximately 4 centimetres
Not hallmarked
Real gold and silver inlaid.

Tested with UV light, beautiful shades of green
