Beautiful gold-filled doublé (pocket watch) necklace from UNION with a beautiful rose gold shine and a beautiful chain clasp set with 2 small opals and a red ruby-colored glass stone.
Made Approx. 1870- 1910 Pforzheim, Germany.
Chain dimensions: 152 cm L x 0. 2 cm W.
Chain shutter size: 1. 5 cm L x 1. 4 cm W.
2 small opals, size Approx. 0. 4cm L x 0. 3cm W. - Rubin 0. 4 diameter.

Union produced from 1870 gold-plated rolled plates, the factory was founded through a collaboration between the largest manufacturers of gold-plated jewelry with e. g. Rodi & Wienerberger, Speidel, Andreas Daub and A. Odenwald etc.

Later, from 1890 onwards, the larger companies, such as A. Daub and Rodi, specialized in a new method for manufacturing jewelry with "rolled" or rolled gold (Doublé) , which is partly why their name became internationally established.
A layer of silver was first cast on a double pressed metal plate, then a thin layer of gold was printed or rolled onto the piece of jewelry twice, carefully polished and with a guarantee and retention of a lifelong gold shine, as evidenced by this necklace with shutter.

The usually long gold-plated chains were used to hang pocket watches, but ladies also used them cunningly by hanging the decorative chain with chain clasps around their necks.
These necklaces were a godsend and very popular among the less fortunate, who could not afford precious metal jewelry!
Antique gold plated jewelry can now be found sporadically and is very collectible!

Click on my seller name and you will see my full range of jewelry.
Photos show the jewelry enlarged, for specific dimensions check the specifications.
The necklace will be lightly cleaned before sending and sent in a gift box by registered and insured mail with Track and Trace.
Customs charges are at the buyer's expense.
