The magnificent large garnet ring is made of 333 = 8 carat yellow gold and is hallmarked accordingly; it also bears a goldsmith's master mark.
The ring head is set with a hand-carved shell cameo depicting a young lady's portrait in a smooth frame. This cameo is surrounded by an entourage of round, faceted, blood-red, Bohemian garnets in an antique rose cut.
