Norman Rockwell (American, 1894-1978)
Four Seasons Portfolio, 1970. "No Swimming (Spring)", "Fishing Dock (Summer)", "Square Dance (Autumn)", and "Musicians (Winter)". The complete portfolio of four black and white lithographs, each signed in pencil lower right, numbered 39/200 lower left, hand-proofed and printed by Circle Gallery, printer's blind stamp lower left margin, matted and framed under glass, overall 23 ½" x 22". The edition consists of 320 impressions: 200 numbered and 60 artist proofs signed in pencil by Norman Rockwell.
Brown and Bigelow commissioned Rockwell to produce numerous four season calendars. This Four Seasons portolio, used for the 1953 calendar, were typical scenes that strived to capture the essence of each season. They aimed “to convey something of feeling of the seasons by the poses.”
Condition: Mat burn around image on each, time toning to margins. Time toning to mat.
