Norman Romanesque-Headed Strap Junction
12th century AD. A Romanesque bronze fitting comprising a central ovoid bulb with a loop at each end, each formed as a round-section bar attached to the bulb by two Romanesque animal heads; shallow incision to the circumference. Cf. Hammond, B. British Artefacts Volume 3 - Late Saxon, Late Viking & Norman, p.99-100, items 1.13o-s. 65 grams, 47mm (1 3/4"). From an old English collection; found UK.
