Condition Report:
The panel appears to be stable. There is a fine vertical split towards the left edge of the panel which has resulted in some very small losses towards the lower section. Minor discoloration to the retouching around this area. Some craquelure to the surface in areas of the background. Paint has worn slightly thin around the sitter's face. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a layer of varnish, retouching to the aforementioned split and to the left and right edges, small spots to the man's feet, to the background and few specks to his clothing. Inspection under infrared camera reveals the inscription to the upper corner.
