20th Century Nymphenburg Porcelain Tureen and Cover. Scallop-moulded squat, globular form, with applied half-lemon as the knop to the conforming-shape top; scroll-moulded handles to the sides. On four scroll-form legs. Painted in polychrome enamels with floral sprays and bouquets. The lemon treated as a trompe-l'oeil fruit, with branch and leaves painted realistically. Impressed shield to underside of base, Nymphenburg, Germany. Circa 1900. 9 1/2" H. x 9" W. at handles, 8" D. By descent from the Kaumheimer family, Stuttgart, Germany. (Chip to flange, approximately 1/4" x 3/4". Chips to leaves on lemon stem, and a loss of leaves or a lemon slice cover).
