O.F. MOSSBERG 42M(c) VINTAGE .22 CALIBER RIFLE
SERIAL NUMBER: NSN. BARREL: 23". CALIBER: .22S-L-LR. MANUFACTURED: 1947-1950. The Mossberg 42M(c) is a premium, post-WWII vintage .22 caliber bolt-action rifle produced from 1947 to 1950. Designed as a military-style training and target rifle, its most distinct feature is a two-piece, full-length "Mannlicher" wooden stock that runs all the way to the muzzle. The stock includes a right-side cheekpiece, swivels for a shooting sling, and a steel buttplate with a built-in trapdoor compartment to store a spare magazine. Mechanically, the rifle features a heavy 23-inch barrel and a smooth, robust bolt action. It feeds from a detachable 7-round or 8-round box magazine and is highly versatile, safely chambering .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle ammunition. Weighing nearly 6.8 pounds, its substantial, full-sized build provides excellent stability and accuracy for precision target shooting. The defining feature of the "(c)" variant is its factory-standard Mossberg S-130 receiver aperture (peep) sight. Mounted to the left side of the receiver, this sight features a unique swing-away pivot arm that allows the shooter to flip the peep sight down and out of the way to instantly use the rifle's open barrel sights or a scope. The S-130 uses micro-adjustable finger nuts for precise windage and elevation clicks, utilizing a spring-retained target disc that can be easily swapped to match changing light conditions. CONDITION: Very Good. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The stock is very nice. Good looking piece. C&R 26-275
