American (Dayton, Ohio), dated 1833. The work of 12-year old "Leah Jane Ashton" and dated "1833". Wrought images include apples, pear, (central) baskets with flowers, birds, and trees. Leah Jane Ashton Morrow (1821-1884) lived in Piqua. Daniel C. Cooper (1773-1818) helped found the Dayton Academy, Dayton's first school to educate boys in 1807. Sampler, 17"w. 21"h.
