Engraving (publ. ca. 1519 or later). Monogrammed “L” in the plate (in lower left corner). Ca. 18,5 x 14,5 cm. (image). Behind passepartout & framed (behind glass) in an ornate wooden frame.

¶ Hollstein (The Graphic Art of Lucas van Leyden) p. 139. Von Wurzbach II, p. 39 (no. 174: “[..] Nach v. Mander ein Selbstportrait des Künstlers”). Possibly the first state (of 2) of a rare early 16th-cent. engraving by the Dutch print-maker Lucas van Leyden (1494-1533) once interpreted as his self-portrait & sometimes entitled “Memento Mori” (Remember that you have to die). – A few imperfections (several small rubbed spots in the image (in lower part), occ. sl. creased, occ. sl. foxed/ browned), but nevertheless in an acceptable condition.
