[ORDER OF MALTA - RESTORATION]. A group of three official pamphlets concerning the claims of the Order following the loss of Malta. Paris and Verona, 1815-1822.
Collection of three scarceofficial pamphlets published during the Restoration, documenting the intense diplomatic activity of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem following the loss of Malta in 1798. The works were presented on the occasion of three decisive moments in European politics: the restoration of the Bourbons in France (1815); the Congress of Aix-la-Chapelle (1818), which marked the end of the Allied occupation of France; and the Congress of Verona (1822), the last of the great congresses of the Holy Alliance. In all three instances, the Order asserted its claims to the recognition of its sovereignty, historical privileges and rights over the island of Malta.

RÉCLAMATION de l'Ordre Souverain de Saint-Jean de Jérusalem, adressée au Roi de France et aux Deux Chambres, dans l'intérêt général de l'Ordre, et dans l'intérêt particulier des trois Langues françaises. Paris: Le Normant, December 1815. 8vo (165 × 120 mm). 15 pages. Bound, but without covers. [WITH:] RÉCLAMATION de l'Ordre Souverain de Saint-Jean de Jérusalem au Congrès d'Aix-la-Chapelle.
