LOT 0261

ORIGINAL NU GRAPE SODA TIN SIGNS AS POP ART

[ translate ]

The 'assemblage' comprised of only two pieces could be perceived as a nod to Andy Warhol with its repeat of 1940s Nu-Grape Soda two-dimensional die cut pop bottle form signs lithographed in seven colors on tin.

Measure 17 x 5 inches each, the frame is 21 x 16.5 inches.

Provenance: The estate of Morton and Estelle Sosland.
In Kansas City, the Sosland family name is synonymous with both giving, and the arts. Of their many contributions to the community, 'The Soslands gave one of the nation's finest private collections of American Indian art to the Nelson-Atkins' museum (nelson-atkins.org). The content of this auction bears testament to their keen eye and varied interests. No property has been added; each lot here originates with the Sosland family and sells without reserve.

We happily provide seamless in-house packing and shipping services on nearly everything we sell.

Until further notice, we cannot offer international shipping in-house.
Condition Report: Each original sign circa 1940 is in good condition, noting very light scratches on some edges, no loss or serious oxidation. Each appears to be mounted with two simple brass screws, neither has been examined outside the frame.
