[ORNO] - Silver (0.800) - Poland - People's Republic of Poland - Bracelet with a Rose Motif

[ translate ]

Length: 19.5 cm
Width: 1.4 cm
Weight: 26.46 cm
The ORNO silver bracelet consists of six round, openwork segments connected by wide, rectangular links. In the center of each segment is a raised motif of a stylized rose, composed of concentrically arranged, curled petals. The floral elements are surrounded by textured, double rings, creating a regular rhythm of repeating links.
The bracelet beautifully showcases ORNO’s signature combination of silver with bold, hand-shaped ornamentation. The substantial roses contrast with the more delicate, linear borders and smooth rectangular connectors. The variety of surfaces—ranging from polished planes to darker, textured recesses—emphasizes the malleability of silver and lends depth to the composition.
The repetition of the rose motif, as well as the way the decoration is integrated into the bracelet’s structure, gives it the character of a small sculptural form. It is a distinctive yet orderly piece, in which the floral ornament has been transformed into ORNO’s signature language of a compact, silver composition.
Condition as shown in the photos.
The ORNO Workers’ and Artistic Handicrafts Cooperative—founded in 1947 by Romuald Rochacki—restored functional beauty to war-torn Warsaw and beyond. The cooperative’s mission is encapsulated in its name, derived from Latin, where “orno” means “to adorn.” The simple and expressive forms of ORNO products were appreciated by both government institutions and individual customers. One of the most famous admirers of ORNO’s aesthetic was Joanna Chmielewska, whose ORNO coral ring became a key plot point in her crime novel *Boczne Drogi*.
