"Art VII, Toulouse Lautrec". Museum Series, 2020.
Oil on canvas.
Attached certificate issued by the author.

Measurements: 40 x 80 cm.
This work belongs to the series museums, which is a small tribute to those works and artists who have influenced the artist's work. In the artist's own words, this series provides "a different vision. They are works surrounded by a world and people who do not belong to their own time, but who, in a certain way, are immersed in the vision of the past, admire it and learn from it. The clothes, the mobile phones, the age of the characters are no more than continuous references to this asynchrony. And in turn, whenever I witness these scenes, the same questions arise in my mind: What are they looking at? What do they see? What are they thinking?
José Ignacio Lucia Orrite was born in Madrid in 1981. Painting and football were his great passions since he was a child. He was soon awarded prizes in some international children's competitions, which emphasised his dedication and interest in painting. This did not prevent him from studying Technical Engineering in Computer Science. Later, however, he studied Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid. In the last year of his studies he was selected for the Ayllón Scholarship, where he was awarded first prize in painting. Once he finished his Fine Arts studies, he participated in several international art fairs, while continuing his training. During this period he visited Sweden and other Nordic countries on a regular basis. This was a turning point in his work. Throughout his career he has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, in important art spaces such as, for example; Galerà a NB7, Madrid, Centro Cultural de Moncloa, Madrid, Centro Cultural Villa de Móstoles, Madrid, Centro Cultural Valdebernardo, Madrid, Espacio Holmes, Madrid, Centro Cultural Valdebernardo, Madrid, FLECHA Art Fair, Madrid, São Mamede Gallery, Lisbon (Portugal), Galerà a Subex, Barcelona, Affordable Art Fair, Brussels Belgium, New Art Fair, Paris, France, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Ayllon, Segovia, Museo Sepúlveda, Segovia and Museo del Traje, Madrid.
